San Bernardino County Employee Benefits The County of San Bernardino offers an exceptional choice of benefits that matter most to our employees, retirees and their dependents. Employees have a choice of three medical plans, two dental plans, supplemental voluntary life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, dependent care assistance, medical expense reimbursement, and deferred compensation plans. County-paid benefits include: flexible benefit plan dollars, term life insurance, vision and disability plans, and wellness programs.
The County has a defined retirement benefit plan based on employer and employee contributions, and is pursuant to the County Employee's Retirement Act of 1937. As such, for regular county employees, there is no Social Security deduction, which adds a 6.2% increase to compensation. The San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association manages the County's retirement plan.
