Don’t do the Crime if you can’t do the time. James Laird belongs to a new generation of crime fighters. As a Senior Deputy District Attorney, he was a lead prosecutor of a nationally recognized program to reduce gang violence in our community. Now, he helps supervise a team of attorneys who prosecute those accused of committing felony crimes. DAs like James, team up with local law enforcement agencies to prosecute over 15,000 felonies and 55,000 misdemeanors each year. He makes sure if you commit a crime in Orange County, you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

James is a lifelong resident of Orange County. James decided to follow in his father‘s footsteps. His father, now a sitting Judge in Orange County, was also an Orange County Deputy District Attorney. James is a graduate of Harvard University and University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He is married to an Orange County DDA.

Off duty, when not prosecuting criminals, James is a devoted family man, and community leader. He serves as a school board member and a public school volunteer teaching students gang and drug prevention and criminal justice awareness. James enjoys playing league softball for a District Attorney team.
