Identifying Talent to Join the Orange County Workforce

As part of the recruitment process, job-related pre-employment tests are conducted in order to provide a means of identifying the talent needed for successful job performance to carry out the County Mission.

Efficient, Effective and Customer Focused:
Key factors in assessment (testing) tool development are to ensure they are based on the competencies necessary for successful performance and the approach taken is efficient and effective. When going through our testing/assessment processes the goal is that you have experienced a job-related assessment that is fair and consistently applied . . . the experience is focused on you as our customer.

Flexible and Strategic:
As part of each recruitment plan, we incorporate current best practices into our strategy. Specific to testing this may mean that a new or modified tool(s) will be applied. Typical assessment components such as application/resume appraisals, interviews, and cognitive ability tests (multiple choice, fill in, essays, etc.) may be used in assessing talent. Practical performance tests such as physical ability, keyboard, oral presentations and many other assessment options, may be appropriate for jobs requiring those special skills.
